Bruce Wayne est une personnalité importante de Gotham City. Demeurant dans un grand château, en compagnie de Dick Grayson, un jeune orphelin qu'il a recueilli, et de son valet Alfred, Bruce Wayne attend patiemment que le téléphone rouge sonne. Lorsque ce dernier sonne, c'est qu'il y a un super vilain en ville et que l'on a besoin de Batman, l'homme chauve-souris, et de son acolyte Robin.
Bruce et Dick descendent alors dans la Batcave et prennent la Batmobile. Masqués et armés de Batgadgets, ils affrontent avec humour des méchants bien singuliers et cabotins...
